Cümlelerini Çeşitlendir: Daha Doğal Yazmanın Kolay Yolları
Kısa ve uzun cümleleri karıştırmak, cümle başlangıçlarını değiştirmek ve fikirleri birleştirmekle akıcı yazmak.

I went to the market. I bought some fruit. I saw my teacher. She said hello. I was surprised. I went home.

On Saturday morning I went to the market to buy some fruit. While I was choosing apples, I saw my teacher. She said hello, which surprised me, and then I went home.
İkisi de doğru. B daha kolay ve keyifli okunuyor, çünkü cümlelerin uzunlukları ve biçimleri farklı.
1. Kısa ve uzunu karıştır
Uzun cümleler ayrıntı taşır, kısa cümleler vurgu yapar. İkisini de kullan.
We walked for six hours through rain and mud, following a map that was clearly out of date. Then we saw the hut.
2. Başlangıcı değiştir
Her cümle I ya da The ile başlıyorsa şunlarla açmayı dene:
- zaman ifadesi: Last summer, …
- yer: Behind the station, …
- -ing'li öbek: Looking out of the window, I noticed…
- bağlaç: Although…, Luckily…
3. Sıfat cümlesiyle birleştir
My uncle lives in Izmir. He is a fisherman. → My uncle, who lives in Izmir, is a fisherman.
We stayed in a hotel. It had a pool. → We stayed in a hotel with a pool. (Bazen kısa bir öbek cümleden bile iyidir.)
4. Zaman ve neden sözcükleriyle birleştir
It was raining. We stayed inside. → Because it was raining, we stayed inside. / It was raining, so we stayed inside.
5. Üst seviyelerde: birkaç ileri yapı
- Vurgu için cleft sentences: What I loved most was the silence. / It was the noise that kept us awake.
- Devrik yapı (inversion) (resmî): Not only was the hotel cheap, but it was also beautiful. / Rarely have I seen such a view.
- Ortaç yapıları (participle clauses): Having finished the exam, she went straight to bed.
İleri yapıları her paragrafa zorla sokma. Bir denemede doğal kullanılmış bir iki tanesi dil yelpazeni gösterir; on tanesi tuhaf durur.
Hızlı test
Son paragrafındaki her cümlenin kelimelerini say. Hepsi birbirine iki üç kelime yakınsa birini değiştir: çok daha kısa ya da çok daha uzun yap.
Kısa alıştırma
Boşlukları doldurun, sonra kontrol edin.
- Join the ideas: "It was cold. We went out." → " it was cold, we went out."
- "The film, was very long, ended at midnight."
- "Not only she sing, but she also plays the guitar."
- Start with a time phrase: " the morning, I study best."
- "Tired hungry, we finally reached the hotel."
